What is a padel Americano?
Americano is the social padel format: you compete as an individual but always play doubles. Each round the app puts you with a new partner against two new opponents, and every point your side scores goes to your personal total. After the last round, the player with the most points wins.
It works for any group that wants everyone to play everyone: club nights, company events, birthday tournaments, a regular Monday with friends. Nobody is knocked out, nobody sits on the bench for long, and level differences even out because your partner changes every round.
Rules
- Four players per court, two against two.
- Partners rotate every round, so over the event you play with as many different people as possible.
- A match is played to a fixed total of points, usually 24 (16, 21 and 32 are also common). The two scores always add up to the total, so entering one side gives the other.
- Alternatively matches are timed: the same minutes on every court, both scores entered separately.
- Every player gets the points their side scored. Points belong to the player, not the pair.
- Standings: total points, then number of wins, then head-to-head, then fewer matches played.
Byes: when the numbers do not divide
Four players fit on a court, so with 8, 12 or 16 players everyone plays every round. With any other number someone rests. Rondelo spreads the byes fairly: nobody sits out a second time before everyone has sat out once, and at the end of the night the difference is at most one round.
How to organize one
- Add the players. Four is the minimum; 8, 12 or 16 with all courts in use is the sweet spot.
- Set the courts. The app caps it at players ÷ 4 and pre-fills the maximum.
- Pick the number of rounds. For 8 players the classic is 7: everyone partners everyone exactly once. The app suggests a value and shows the estimated total time.
- Choose scoring: to 24 points, or timed rounds.
- Start. Tap a side on the court card and enter its score; the other side is derived. Standings update instantly.
- Undo a slip, add a late joiner, mark someone who left. Only rounds not yet played are regenerated.
How many rounds?
For the sizes where everyone fits on court, N − 1 rounds give a complete partner round-robin: every player partners every other player exactly once.

A match to 24 points takes roughly 12–15 minutes, so 7 rounds are about two hours including changeovers.
Questions
How many players do I need?
At least four. Any number above that works; the app handles resting players. 8, 12 and 16 with a court per four players are the smoothest.
What about an odd number of players?
Some players rest each round. Rondelo rotates the byes so everyone rests equally, and when points are level the standings favour whoever played fewer matches.
Can a match end in a draw?
With an even total like 24, yes (12–12). Play to 21 if you want a winner in every match.
Do I need an account?
No. Rondelo runs in the browser, saves your events on the device and works with no signal. An optional login for cross-device history comes later.
Americano or Mexicano?
Americano fixes the schedule up front so everyone meets everyone. Mexicano re-seeds every round by the standings, so players of similar level end up on the same court. Mixed group that wants close matches: Mexicano. Social night: Americano.
