What is a Team Americano?
Team Americano keeps the Americano scoring but fixes the pairs. Teams play a round-robin: every team meets every other team, points are collected per team, and the standings decide the winner. It suits couples nights, club leagues and any event where the pairs matter.
Rules
- At least two fixed pairs; as many courts as teams ÷ 2.
- Round-robin: a single round-robin takes teams − 1 rounds; you can go on for a double round-robin.
- An odd number of teams means one team rests per round, rotating so nobody rests twice before everyone rested once.
- Matches to a fixed total (24 by default) or timed. Points belong to the team.
- Standings: total points, then wins, then head-to-head, then fewer matches played.
- Substituting a player inside a team keeps the team, its name and its points.
How to organize one
- Enter the teams by name.
- Set the courts; the app pre-fills the maximum.
- Keep the suggested rounds for a full round-robin, or shorten if time is tight.
- Choose scoring and start. Enter one side of each score; standings update per team.
How many rounds?
A single round-robin needs one round fewer than the number of teams.
| Teams | Courts | Rounds | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 2 | 3 | Every pair once |
| 5 | 2 | 5 | One team rests each round |
| 6 | 3 | 5 | Full round-robin in about 90 minutes |
| 8 | 4 | 7 | About two hours at 24 points |

Yes, set more rounds than teams − 1 and the round-robin repeats.
